We are a family with two children (5 and 8 years old) without a car and live in the city. The Mäx&Mäleon is the perfect companion, even when the children are older.
We've ride many single-track cargo bikes and were initially a little skeptical about how we'd like the steering: It's truly fantastic how well the steering works and how intuitive the transition from a Long John is. The stability is noticeably improved by the two front wheels – even riding on snow was no problem. The front wheels eliminate the need to "jack it up," which was quite a struggle with the Long John. The additional handbrake is inconspicuous but a great help. We are completely satisfied with this perfectly designed bike and would buy it again in a heartbeat.
The concept immediately won us over.
This is exactly the kind of cargo bike we were looking for. Sustainable production in Germany with exclusively German or European components. It's a real alternative to a small electric car and, in our opinion, the better choice.
It can replace the car in the city.

Excellent passenger transporter; it completely replaces a car for distances of less than 15km in our area.
Around town, we much prefer ride our bikes (Mäx&Mäleon) to driving, and in the traffic chaos at school and during rush hour, we definitely have the advantage. What we like best is that it will grow with us for a long time, as it's not just designed for transporting small children. We've even taken Mom, Dad, and child to the Christmas market on the bike! 🙂
As a vehicle for commuting to work and as a car replacement
The bike rides very well and can carry heavy loads. In winter, the three-wheeled Ride makes it significantly safer. One drawback: there's some moisture in the internal components – meaning the gears stick in sub-zero temperatures. Otherwise, it's fantastic, and with the motor assistance, you can even ride up hills with gradients of up to 20 percent. The quality is excellent, and the service is great too.
A real contribution to inclusion!
Our passenger bike is a real boon for the mobility of my adult daughter Lea, who has severe disabilities. She can hardly wait to get on it and loves finally being the fastest. And for us, it's an absolute relief not to have to constantly push the unwieldy wheelchair anymore.
It's simply fun. Your stylish appearance makes you stand out and it's easy to strike up a conversation.
The tilting mechanism provides a fantastic riding experience. The powerful battery easily handles even steep inclines. For me, the perfect combination of features – being able to carry adults, children, or even cargo – was the deciding factor. I have a bike for everything that rides just like a regular e-bike. Delivery of the Passenger Bike was also seamless. Despite the rainy day, everything was patiently explained and adjusted (saddle height, etc.). I was always able to reach someone by phone and WhatsApp if I had any questions. Thank you so much!.
Perfect for bike rides with my wife and our dog on weekends and holidays.
My wife can no longer ride a bike due to illness. I use it for shopping in the village, either alone or with my wife. Perhaps starting in the spring, we'll also be able to use it for commuting to work (32 km each way). Mäx & Mäleon can make customer adjustments, which isn't readily possible with other manufacturers. For example, we had it fitted with a higher backrest and a 4-point harness.
