The Passenger Bike is built for passenger transport, the Transporter Bike for dogs and cargo.

- Transporter Bike offers a flat loading platform or a cargo box, each customizable to specific needs.
- Both models are based on the same Sports Chassis with sprung tilt technology and a powerful e‑motor.
Which motors does Mäx & Mäleonuse?
All bikes are currently equipped with the Bosch Cargo Line or Sachs RS drive equipped, two of the stärksten mid-drive motors für e-cargobikes.
- The motors deliver 85, 112 or 120 Nm torque depending on the version.
- The motors support speeds up to 25 km/h.
- The motors are manufactured in the EU.
Which brakes does Mäx & Mäleonuse?
Mäx & Mäleon relies on hydraulic disc brakes from Fahrwerker.
- Fahrwerker F//4000 rear and Fahrwerker dual brake system front.
- Four‑fold lifespan of brake pads and discs (vs. conventional disc brakes).
- Ensures short braking distances, even with high load or on wet roads.
Which batteries does Mäx & Mäleonuse?
Both models are powered by a removable lithium‑ion battery, type BMZ LV 814.01 .
- The battery has an 814 Wh capacity, runs on 48 V and weighs about 4.7 kg.
- It can be charged from any standard socket as well as directly on the bike and is designed for frequent charging cycles.
- Depending on load, temperature and riding style, realistic ranges of 50 to 100 kilometres per charge are achievable.
Which gear systems does Mäx & Mäleonuse?
Depending on the equipment variant, hub gears from Rohloff, 3×3 and Enviolo are installed.
- The standard version features a continuously variable Enviolo Heavy Dutyhub gear.
- In the premium version, you can choose between Rohloff Speedhub and 3×3 Nine.
- All components are tuned to the high torque and the special requirements of an e‑cargo bike.
How big and heavy is the Mäx & Mäleon cargo bike?
The Mäx & Mäleon is 2.62 meters long and 74 centimeters wide.
- The Passenger Bike weighs 68 kilograms and can carry 100 kg.

No, the Mäx & Mäleon is just as long and wide as comparable cargo bikes.

How far does the Mäx & Mäleon cargo bike go on a single charge?
The range is typically 50–100 km per charge.
- It depends on load, temperature, hill climbing and assistance level.
- The 814 Wh battery provides enough power for multiple trips in city traffic or longer tours in the countryside.
- With a second battery the range doubles, making the Mäx & Mäleon the perfect travel bike

Can you ride the Mäx & Mäleon without a motor ride?
Yes, but it’s designed for heavy loads up to 250 kg and therefore only available with an e‑motor.
- For short trips or on flat terrain, the ride without assistance is easily doable – but because of the bike’s weight, it’s more tiring than a bicycle ride.
- The e-drive operates almost resistance‑free, so pedaling requires only slightly more effort than on a regular bike.
- With an empty battery the handling stays stable, and the tilting technology prevents the bike from tipping sideways.
How long does it take to charge the battery?
A full charge takes about four hours with the standard charger.
- Partial loads are fine and don’t affect battery cell lifespan.
- The BMZ battery can be charged directly on the bike or separately at home.

What covers and weather‑protection solutions does Mäx & Mäleonoffer?
Depending on the bike type, there are weather covers, weather tarps, and a weather canopy.
- Für children available in Passenger Bike a weather cover, für adults a weather blanket.
- For the Transporter Bike is a Cargo-Regenschutz available, attached to the side walls.
- Für dogs there is also a weather cover.
- For both bikes there is also a Bike-Persenning to cover the entire wheel when parking.
Up to what age can children fit under the weather roof?
Children can ride up to about 10 years old or 1.5 meters tall weather cover withride.
- The child seat provides an 80 cm seat height under the weather canopy.
- The large seat’s height under the weather canopy is 70 cm
- For older kids, teens and adults there’s a weather cover protecting against rain and wind.
What seating options does the Passenger Bike offer for children or adults?
In addition to the standard seat various child seats and custom solutions.
- The Passenger Bike has a padded seat, where children and adults can ride comfortably with ride.
- For babies and toddlers there are Melia baby shells and toddler seats that can be attached to the adult seat.
- A child seat can be installed instead of the adult seat for toddlers.
- All seats come with suitable safety belts featuring 2/3/4/5‑point systems.
Can Euroboxes or toolboxes be attached to the Mäx & Mäleon ?
Yes, there is enough space for Euroboxes and tool boxes.
- The cargo area of the Transporter Bikefits two Euroboxes side by side and several stacked.
- The Passenger Bike fits one Eurobox and several stacked.
- Thanks to tie-down points and load securing boxes and cargo stay firmly in place.
Are there USB or power outlets on the bike?
Yes, there is an optional USB-Port on the handlebar of the Mäx & Mäleon.
- The USB port provides 5 V/2 A.
- Also retrofittable in the workshop or with us.
Which theft protection or locks does Mäx & Mäleonrecommend?
From the factory, an ABUS-frame lock is installed.
- We recommend the right insert chain for a solid lock.
- Additionally, a permanently installed GPS-Tracker („IT’S MY BIKE“) can be ordered, which makes the bike searchable in the app.
Are there suitable cover tarps for the Mäx & Mäleon?
Yes, there are various cover tarps and blankets for weather protection.
- With the Bike-Persenning you can cover the whole bike and protect it from Nässe, dirt and prying eyes while parked.
- With the Cargo cover tarp can protect the load in Transporter Bike also protect during the ride.
- The weather cover protects passengers and can also be fastened to the bike as a protective tarp.
Order & Delivery
Where can I test ride the Mäx & Mäleon cargo bike test ride?
You can get the Mäx & Mäleon at partner retailers across Germany and also at our company locations test ride.
- On the Partner map you will find all test bikes.
- Simply fill out the form and request an appointment.
- Test Ride in our Stuttgart manufactory and in the Rhein-Main showroom are special experiences – and the right bike with the desired equipment is there.
- All year we offer test rides at fairs and events.
- If no test bike is available for you, contact us – we’ll find a solution!
How does the ordering process work?
After your configuration you ä receive an offer and can officially order.
- We check every configuration to ensure it's the optimal setup.
- After ordering, we will give you a delivery time window.
- Delivery is chargeable by freight forwarder, but you can also pick up the bike in Frankfurt or Stuttgart.
What is the delivery time for Mäx & Mäleon?
Delivery time depends on the factory’s seasonal workload.
- The timeframe varies between 4 weeks (winter) and 12 weeks (spring/summer).
How much does delivery cost for Mäx & Mäleon?
Delivery by freight forwarder costs €250.
- You can also pick up your cargo bike for free in Frankfurt and Stuttgart.
- Our bikes are delivered fully assembled, packaging‑free and ready to ride.
How does the delivery of an Mäx & Mäleon work?
We’ll let you know when we hand the bike over to the carrier – they’ll then contact you.
- Delivery is by truck and usually takes 7 business days.
Can I pick up the Mäx & Mäleon cargo bike myself?
Yes, you can pick up your bike in Stuttgart or Frankfurt for free.

Yes. With direct purchase you can use subsidies unavailable or only limited with leasing.
- Additionally, with direct purchase you aren’t tied to monthly lease payments – the bike is yours instantly.
Can I combine cargo‑bike funding with leasing?
Funding and leasing are often not combinable.
- It’s worth checking local funding program conditions – special exceptions may apply.
Can I combine cargo bike funding and financing?
Yes. Financing can usually be combined with most subsidy programs.
- This can reduce the purchase price and keep financing flexible.
Do you earn extra on financing or leasing?
No. Mäx & Mäleon does not receive any commission for financing or leasing.
- The goal is to give you fair terms – no extra costs.
Can I receive a BAFA subsidy for the Passenger Bike ?
Yes, but it's more complicated than with the Transporter Bike. We'll gladly explain it over the phone!
Is the Mäx & Mäleonfinancing also available for self‑employed and freelancers?
Unfortunately no – our financing partner only offers this installment loan to private individuals.
- As a freelancer or self‑employed, you can also consider micro‑loans or other financing options.
- We are happy to advise you over the phone!
How does cargo‑bike financing work for the self‑employed and freelancers?
You can simply use company bike leasing.
- The advantage is that leasing doesn’t appear on your balance sheet.
- With financing or a direct purchase you can save significantly on taxes, as you have little or no financing costs and can depreciate the bike over several years.
Repair and maintenance
When does my Mäx & Mäleon cargo bike need to be inspected?
The first maintenance should be done after just 500km.
- Your bike should be serviced every 5,000 km or once a year.
- The manual shows when maintenance is required.
- After an accident, you should also go for a check.
- Naturally, watch for wear parts (e.g., brake performance).
Where can I have my Mäx & Mäleon bike serviced or repaired?
Most maintenance can be performed by any bike shop.
- Only drivetrain and software issues can be handled by service partners.
- On our Service Map you’ll find all partner workshops.
- If you don’t have a nearby partner, we’ll gladly help you find a workshop or qualify a local bike shop as a partner.
- Any bike shop can become an MM partner. We’ll gladly equip them with all the needed tools and info.
Can I perform minor maintenance myself?
Yes, you can handle simple tasks like checking tires, cleaning the chain, or swapping brake pads yourself.
- For complex tasks – such as tilt technology, hydraulics or software – a specialist workshop should always be consulted.
- The manual offers an overview of recommended self‑checks.

How to care for and store the battery?
The battery should be stored dry, cool, and at about 50–70% charge.
- The battery must never be subjected to strong shocks, e.g., from a fall.
- Avoid long idle periods with a full or empty battery.
- Before winter, a charging cycle is recommended to keep the cells active.
- A slightly damp cloth is enough for cleaning – never use high‑pressure water.
How long does a battery last and can it be replaced?
The BMZ battery typically lasts 4-6 years – but can be replaced.
- Defective batteries can be sent in for cell replacement – we consider this vital as a sustainable company.
- Lifespan heavily depends on care and use and can easily exceed 6 years.
- Then capacity can slowly drop without the battery failing immediately.
- Spare batteries are available through the dealer or directly from Mäx & Mäleon and are easy to replace.
What happens in a warranty case or if a defect occurs?
In case of warranty, Mäx & Mäleon covers the repair or replacement of the affected components.

Is there a mobile service or on‑site repairs?
Yes, some partner workshops provide on‑site service – e.g., for commercial fleets or large cities.
